Expeditionary Learning is a research-based design and teacher development program for comprehensive school improvement that achieves results:

Improved instruction and a more professional faculty
    Higher student achievement and engagement
A positive and productive school culture

Schools achieve these results by putting the principles and core practices of Expeditionary Learning into place and working on them. This is enabled by the full faculty's active participation in Expeditionary Learning's multi-year program of professional development. This work happens primarily at the school site, but also at regional and national locations.

Anser's approach to education is based on the principles of Expeditionary Learning, with students learning through expeditions that are relevant to their communities and to them personally. About 17 percent of Anser's students have learning disabilities. Yet, in the spring of 2004, 100 percent of fourth grade students scored proficient in reading and language arts: and 95 percent scored proficient in math, exceeding comparable scores for 4th graders in the state and district by 15-20 percentage points.”
