We can help you... build a professional learning community
“The original affirmation of teacher innovation has begun to create an activist school culture committed to creating the best possible school.” -Stephen Sexton, Lighthouse Community Charter School Oakland, CA
Great schools require that all the adults in the building work together to create learning environments for students that are rigorous, supportive, exciting and meaningful. In Expeditionary Learning schools, adults at the school are themselves learners. There is an open dialogue about best practices, critique of student and teacher work, problems and difficulties in the school and what is best for student learning. Building a professional learning community takes time and effort, yet the payoff is enormous. Imagine schools where teachers regularly visit each other's classroom to give feedback and learn from each other, where all teachers feel included in decisions about the school, and where teachers present their work together for outside audiences.
