“... three primary teachers returned to school from the Early Literacy Institute galvanized and ready to apply their learning.” -Stephen Sexton, Lighthouse Community Charter School Oakland, CA
Becoming an Expeditionary Learning school is a multi-year process. For most schools it begins with a period of exploration and trial, involving visits to current EL schools and visits from EL staff and sometimes, attendance at EL professional development activities. It may involve an exploratory contract with EL. Eventually, the school leadership and faculty chooses to adopt Expeditionary Learning's principles and core practices and contract with EL -- for a fee -- to provide professional development and technical assistance over a period of years. If you wish to explore how your school might become an EL school, or if you are interested in starting an EL school, please email us at info@elschools.org or fill in our questionnaire and indicate if you want printed material and/or one of our staff members to contact you by telephone.
